DIRECTOR

“Ricky Hunt’s direction never assumes too little of the audience, offering them the chance to reflect on the piece rather than jolt out into obscurity.”
– Binge Fringe Magazine
Ricky Hunt is an experienced and dynamic theatre director whose work pushes the boundaries of form and audience experience. Following the runaway success of his five-star, sell-out adaptation Earth To Kurt – A Grunge Opera, Ricky has gone on to direct multiple new productions that challenge, delight, and invite audiences to think deeply about the stories being told.
Ricky believes storytelling is for everyone and strives for narrative inclusivity in every project he takes on.
In 2022, Ricky co-directed and devised Coral Bevan’s raucous comedy Fisherman Jon – What’s on the End of My Rod, which enjoyed a hit run at the Museum of Comedy before transferring to the iconic Puppet Theatre Barge in 2023. With the same creative team, Ricky went on to create Wayne Wayneson’s Rock Hard, which stormed the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023.
“Ricky lights up the room with his fresh, hardworking approach to the art — as a Director, Writer, Dramaturg, Performer… the list goes on. Working alongside Ricky is effortless and inspiring. Ricky is 1000% clown that truly chose tragedy.”
– George Clark, Volume Club Theatre
Ricky’s directing credits also include multiple successful Edinburgh Fringe shows, including his comedy double act with Abbie Murphy, Two Faced Bitchin’ (2018) and Beg, Borrow & Bitch (2019) at the Gilded Balloon.
In addition to his theatre work, Ricky is an Associate Artist with Secret Cinema, lending his directorial skills to large-scale immersive productions.

Up next, Ricky is bringing the chaos with Tight Arse!, a wild festive spectacular set to ruffle feathers (and stockings) in the West End this December.
